Setting Up Ratios
A ratio tells how much of each part is in a mix: with the same water, more ink makes a darker wash, and with the same ink, more water makes a lighter one.
Start
🔒
Scaling Up
A larger batch keeps its shade when both parts are multiplied by the same number: 5 jars of dye to 1 bucket of water dyes the same red as 15 jars to 3 buckets.

🔒
Scaling Down
A smaller batch keeps its shade when both parts are divided by the same number: 4 scoops of matcha to 12 cups of milk is the same green as 1 scoop to 3 cups.

🔒
Making a New Mixture
Multiplying or dividing both parts of a ratio by the same number makes an equivalent ratio, a new mixture of the same shade: 1 : 3 and 3 : 9 freeze to the same lime green.

Level Check
